Christmas in Baja

This is Mitch, outstanding in her field, as she takes a picture of all of us lined up at the dump station before heading for the border crossing. The crossing at Tecate was very simple and there was no wait.
We only drove about 50 miles into Baja on Christmas Eve day. Our first campground was at Rancho Sordo Mudo, also called the Deaf Ranch. The ranch is actually a school for deaf children. The income from the RV park helps support the school. We all enjoyed the suddenly 80 degree weather.
The campground is located in wine country, and is surrounded by vineyards.
After crossing the mountains we descended to the coastal city of Ensenada. There was not much traffic on Christmas Day.
Our next campground was Campo 5, located high on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Mitch was a good elf and fixed us all Christmas dinner.
 Christmas at Campo 5.
The Baja Babes on Christmas Day: Beth, Mitch, me, Tina

We walked down the road about a mile to see the Bufadora blowhole. Water builds up and spouts up periodically. It's a pretty touristy place, and you have to walk through a gauntlet of Mexican vendors trying to peddle their colorful pottery, clothing, leather goods, blankets, and food to get to La Bufadora.
After that, there was a lot of work to be done. Tough, but someone had to do it.
We had to watch for whales. The whales were feeding and stirring up lots of fish.
Which attracted lots of dolphins and birds, so we had to watch them too.
And then there was sunset which seemed to go on forever. We did this for two days.
Mitch drove us to town in her truck and we all bought a TelCel internet stick and  a data plan, which will allow us to use the internet in some places. We had signal at Campo 5, but it was very slow, so not many pictures. More next time.

  2. so glad you guys got a TelCel - when not in a big city it is slow but eventually it works if there is a signal.
Bill and I share ours - I post every day with lots of pictures and haven't used up our 3gbs yet.

  4. Sharon, I don't know? If you had come they may not have let us across the border...:=) As it was, it was Beth's sweet smile at the immigration officers that allowed us smooth entry.....LOL
